This page will cover a total strip down and build of a classic CT70 to show some of the parts and processes used to make a killer bike. The goal for this project is to use classic, OEM and clone parts to make a great all around bike and show one way you could build your bike.
This frame has seen some use and mistreatment, there are broken bolts in the frame lots of small dents and the steering tern stop is broken clean off. Here is the old frame totality disassembled and ready for sandblasting.
Fame back frame sandblasting and we start the metal work; we drilled out the broken bolt and re-taped it. A body hammer was use to work out the big dents and a small angle grander with a fine grit disc to smooth out some of the welds and scratches.
Steering tern stop was broken clean off the frame, a grinder removed the remaining steel and a new replacement stop was fabricated up to replace the missing steering stop
After all of the welding is complete we filed in the small remaining dents and irregular spots with body filler
Filler and body sanded smooth
Here you can see the new steering stop
First coat of epoxy primer on the frame and head light bucket in our new state of the art paint booth, we set this up to keep the over spry out of out shop.
